Media Blog Reflection
Going into this, I did not expect how much it would open my own eyes. I knew that I consumed a lot of media every single day, but I didn't know how much of an impact that it has on me. I did not like the idea of finding small things in ads and explaining how they affect either me or others. But now after these blogs, it is definitely a positive experience. I am more aware of what I see now. I am more aware of how marketers use different techniques to attract to us, the consumers and buyers.
I consume a lot of media every day. I know that it does have an impact on my life because of these blogs. I also am more aware of what is going on when it comes to these ads. Being aware of what is going on in ads and commercials and shows, it makes me want to stay away from media. All they want is for you to buy something or watch something. Companies don't care about your personal experience, they care about how much money they are making off of you. Companies just want to keep you coming back, that is the whole point. We all continue to keep going back and back, not wanting a change.
My habits with media haven't changed that much over this semester. Of course I am very aware of what I'm consuming and what is being presented to me, but it has not made a large change. I could say that I am less likely to be on social media, but it is still a very large part of my life. Being an educated consumer is very important nowadays. Some consumers don't know what they're consuming or viewing or even buying. This is very dangerous because it shows you've fallen right into the marketers trap. We as the people have to be aware of what is going on in media and how it is presented to us. It is also important to know that everything online isn't always true or real. Of course we think that we can't be tricked into something, but we easily are. We just aren't aware of what we do or watch and it has a real impact on us, and when the time comes, we assume that it can't be medias fault for our change.
Keeping these logs has made it so that I am more aware of all of media. I know what is going on in commercials and ads and how the marketers are trying to advertise to me. It just doesn't seem to work anymore because I know that the companies real intentions are just to make money despite the words they say about customer care and being there for you. These logs were eye opening from the start to the end.
